The Widows
THE WIDOWS RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘BETWEEN TWO WORLDS’London post-punk/psych/rock ’n’ roll quartet unveil their second album.
London’s The Widows return this Friday 16 October with Between Two Worlds, a 12-track collision of post-punk, psychedelia, garage rock and raw rock ’n’ roll.
Described by the band as an “Unconscious Coupling of Danse Macabre x Disco Inferno”, the album explores liminal spaces — between love and hate, desire and regret, wake and sleep, life and death.

Born out of rehearsals with the band's revitalised line-up — Kim Le Tan (vocals/synth), Francesco Manzi (guitar/vocals), Roger Salsas (bass/vocals) and Vince Johnson (drums) — the songs emerged as the “strange fruits of creative cohesion and tension”, eventually coalescing into their most ambitious record to date.
Recorded at Space Eko East Recording Studio with producer Alex McGowan, the tracks were captured live to preserve the band's visceral energy, with subsequent overdubs adding layers of psych-infused textures and other-worldliness.
Drawing inspiration from The Stooges, Bowie, The Cramps, Television and The Fall, The Widows refuse to be confined by genre. Anything in the rock ’n’ roll canon and beyond is fair game.
The album follows a run of singles including ‘Bardo Blues’, ‘False Idols’ and most recently ‘Skin of Gold’ — described by the band as “a post-punk disco-funk banger inciting defiant waves of hope against the rising tide of fear.” Previous releases have attracted international press coverage and recognition from music discovery platform Hype-Index.
The Widows celebrate the album's arrival with a headline show at Camden's legendary Dublin Castle on Thursday 15 October, joined by Halfcut, LI KUAN and Thief Lane, presented by Bugbear Bookings. They return to The Fiddler's Elbow on Friday 13 November alongside Colour Me Blood Red and Escapist.
